National Vocation Awareness Week is an annual week-long celebration in the Catholic Church in the United States, dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, permanent diaconate, and consecrated life. National hubs of activity related to increasing vocation awareness include the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Serra International, and Vianney Vocations.
On the local level, the Serra Club of Johnson County will launch initiatives of its own, including the commencement of a weekly recitation of the Rosary, with meditations on the Luminous Mysteries focused at prayer for vocations. The first Rosary is set for Thursday evening, 7:30 PM, and will be available via Zoom. The preceding link will get you directly to the website calendar, where details and the Zoom link can be found. The Rosary will be recited weekly at the same time. Join in this ongoing prayer effort for vocations.
In conjunction with National Vocation Awareness Week, the Serra Club will host a series of Membership Events on weekends in November and December at parishes in the area. This is an effort to increase awareness of Serra and its mission and invite new members to the Serra way of life. Prayer for vocations is the fundamental purpose of Serra, while members encourage each other in deepening the spiritual life. More Serra members means more prayers for vocations! The first scheduled Membership Event weekend is scheduled November 20 -21 at Curé of Ars. For details and an opportunity to sign up to help with these events, check the website calendar.
