IN APRIL, JOCO SERRA TURNS 25! The Serra Club of Johnson County was organized in 1999, at the request of Archbishop James Keleher. His desire was to establish a Serra club with membership comprised of both lay men and women. Charter members still active in the Serra Club of Johnson County recall an initial membership roster of 99 men and women. The first meeting occurred on April 26, 1999. Mark Ledom was the first club president. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the club's existence, the Board (thanks, Joane Wilkerson and George Lents!) asks that you "Save the Date": Thursday, May 2, 2024! The evening will begin with Mass at Curé of Ars at 6:00 PM, followed by dinner together at O'Neill's Restaurant in nearby Ranchmart.
First JOCO Serra chaplain, Fr. Bill Porter, has graciously accepted an invitation to concelebrate Mass and join us for the evening! Current chaplain, Fr. Scott Wallisch, will serve as the main celebrant for the Mass and join us for dinner, as well.
