The work of a Serran is centered on prayer for seminarians and for men and women discerning religious life. In the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, we are blessed in the 2022-23 academic year to have 26 seminarians studying for the priesthood. The seminarians attend either Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis, MO, or St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, CO.
Serrans also materially support seminarians and men and women discerning religious life through regular contact by mail, financial assistance to help defray the costs of education and discernment, and hosting seminarians to gatherings in Serran homes where meals and fellowship are shared.
Serrans become other families for men and women discerning the priesthood or religious life.
