Prayer

Prayer is the backbone of support for vocations.  Daily prayer is the essence of the Serran commitment to spiritually support priestly and religious vocations.

The Serran Prayer for Vocations

O God, Who wills not the death of a sinner
but rather that he be converted and live
grant we beseech you through the intercession of the Blessed Mary ever Virgin,
Saint Joseph her spouse,
St. Junipero Serra and all the saints
an increase of laborers for your Church,
fellow laborers with Christ,
to spend and consume themselves for souls,
through the same Jesus Christ Your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God forever and ever. Amen

Ways to Pray the Rosary for Vocations

The Rosary is a hallowed prayer to meditate on Christ's life as well as intercede for special intentions. Try these ideas to pray for vocations.

Idea #1 – Rosary for the Priests in Your Life

Here is a creative way to pray for the priests in your life.  Pray the first decade for the priest who baptized you, the second decade for the priest who gave you First Communion, the third for the priest or bishop who confirmed you, the fourth for the priest who witnessed your marriage or religious vows, (or the bishop who ordained you), and the fifth for the priest who will anoint you before death.

Idea #2 – Rosary to Intercede for Vocations

A short but inspired pamphlet offers powerful meditations on the Luminous Mysteries. Each decade focuses on a vocation such as marriage or religious life.

Another link to a Scriptural Rosary for Vocations with meditation on the Luminous Mysteries is here. The Joyful Mystery meditations are here.

Join us for a weekly evening Rosary for Vocations, Thursdays at 7:30 PM. Find the weekly Rosary on our calendar.

Idea #3 – Rosary to Know My Vocation

Many people say praying a daily rosary helped them clarify God's will for their vocations. Check this link to rosary podcasts at Discerning Hearts.

Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
