2023 Priesthood Ordinations!

Ordinations to the Sacred Order of the Priesthood took place on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, KS. Look inside for photos and details!

In preparation for their priestly ordinations, (photo left, left to right) Deacons Tim Skoch, George Rhodes, and Colm Larkin declare "a wrap" to rehearsal  at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, KS, on Friday evening, May 26, 2023.

The deacons, their immediate families, seminarians and clergy were invited to a Holy Hour with evening prayer and consecration of their individual chalices (seen in the photo), followed by dinner provided by the parish in the parish hall.

The following morning at 10:30 AM, the newly consecrated chalices (photo right) awaited presentation to the archbishop by parents of the new priests, Jason and Kathy Rhodes, Dennis and Jean Larkin, and Mike and Ginny Skoch, after their sons' ordinations were sealed with the annointing of their hands.

During the ordination ceremony, the deacons prostrated themselves (photo left) while the congregation, in singing the Litany of Saints, called on the saints of the church to "pray for us."

The Archbishop then laid his hands on the deacons, conferring the Holy Spirit upon their ordination to the priesthood. Priests of the archdiocese and visiting priests then laid hands on the deacons (photo right) as a sign of their communion in the one priesthood of Christ.

Newly ordained, Father Timothy Skoch, gives a First Blessing to Archbishop Naumann (photo below left), as did Fathers George Rhodes and Colm Larkin, just prior to the conclusion of the ordination Mass.

The new priests are pictured (below right) with Archbishop Joseph Naumann immediately after their ordination. Their joy-filled faces evidence the wonder of the great occasion in their lives, the lives of their families, and in the archdiocese!

Congratulations to Father Rhodes, Father Larkin, and Father Skoch on their ordination to the Holy Priesthood!
